OTWAY OUTING MOTORBIKE ADVENTURE TOUR

Enjoy a two day motorbike tour of the Otway Ranges. The Otway National Park is an underrated natural beauty. With 500+ waterfalls, and over 2000 kms of trails to explore. You'll be in awe of the views, the rainforests, the track variety, the history and I haven't even started talking about the world famous Great Ocean Road.

The Great Otway National Park situated within the Otway Ranges doesn’t get the name “Great” by being average. Covering 1,023 square kilometres the area is home to some of the largest trees and most diverse collection of fauna in Victoria. The choice of tracks to ride range from soft sand to clay and everything in between.

If you were to try and ride every track in the Otway Ranges, you’d be there for months. The good news is, you don’t have to, because we’ve ridden all the tracks and have collated a route which includes some of the best vistas and attractions into our Otway Outing Motorbike Tour.

The Great Otway Outing Motorbike Adventure ride is rated as above beginner standard to Intermediate ride difficulty. To understand our ride ratings, please visit our Ride Difficulty Explained page.

GREAT OTWAY OUTING – DAY ONE

The Great Otway Outing Motorbike Tour is a two day adventure starting in Gellibrand River a small township at the foot of the Otway Ranges. From Gellibrand we wind our way through the Otways to Princetown and the Old Coach Road. Along the way you’ll experience rain forests in the Otway’s green valleys and cruise along its peaks enjoying magical vistas.

Lunch will be in Lavers Hill, before we visit the majestic California Redwoods planted by Forest Commission as an experiment in the 1930’s. It still amazes us that this spot is not more widely visited. Soon after you’ll ride a weaving road lined by rain forests near Beech Forest.

On our way down to Apollo Bay you’ll experience some of the best views of the Great Ocean Road in the Otways. We’ll arrive at Bimbi Park late afternoon where you’ll spend the night in a bush setting surrounded by Koalas and the odd possum or wombat. We’ll cook you a well deserved meal washed down with some icy cold beverages.

GREAT OTWAY OUTING – DAY TWO

After a good sized breaky, we’ll enjoy a quick visit to Blanket Bay or Parkers Bay riding through the “dead forest” along the way.

From the beauty of the bays we’ll travel back Apollo Bay along one of the best strips of the Great Ocean Road. Just before Mount Defiance we’ll head inland up a steepish ridge, after taking in some more breath taking views of the Great Ocean Road we’ll pass through our first creek crossing and stop for a break.

After the break you’ll see some old trees stumps which were cut down nearly 100 years ago, as part of the thriving timber industry which existed from the 1900 to 1930s. Lunch will be in Forest now very popular with mountain bike riders. After lunch we’ll visit Stevenson Waterfall which sits in a beautiful valley nestled in amongst an old forestry area. At this point you’ll start the hear the call of a beer or wine to celebrate the end of an enjoyable outing. It’s a good thing we’re not far from Gellibrand we’re we’ll return to where it all started.
